From Soap to Social Change: One Unstoppable Vision

Ever wonder what it would actually look like to host your own retreat at Wild Woods?

We just built something to help you find out.

It’s a brand-new Wildly Successful Retreat Experience Tool that lets you play with different options including lodging, meals, activities, and see what it might cost to bring your people here. Think of it as a retreat daydream machine.

Now, full disclosure: it’s still in development. A few things may be clunky. Some buttons might not behave. That’s where you come in. We’d love for you to test drive it, imagine your own retreat, and then hit reply to let us know what worked, what didn’t, and what you’d love to see added.

This is the first step in helping leaders like you design unforgettable experiences at Wild Woods. Go ahead, give it a spin. And then tell us what you think.

And speaking of building movements that bring people together… this week’s Entrepreneurs Gone Wild feature is about someone who’s doing just that. He turned a heartbreaking moment into a global mission that’s now training millions of future leaders.

Meet the visionary behind Destiny Connect Foundation.

It started with a birthday cake. Not the kind with candles and a family gathered around a table, but one carried into an early childhood center filled with children who had no one else to celebrate with. James Ojo spent his birthday sharing cake and gifts with kids who came from broken homes, who often didn’t have enough to eat. It became a ritual for him. One year, he arrived to discover there wasn’t even food waiting for the children when they came home from school.

So he did what most people would do. He jumped in his truck, drove to the store, and bought what he could. But when he returned, he found another delivery truck already there. This one was offloading a donation of expired groceries. Rotten food.

That moment broke him. And it built him.

It’s the day James decided to start the Destiny Connect Foundation.

From Nigeria to South Africa: A Journey of Grit

James didn’t grow up with wealth. As a teenager in Nigeria, he helped his mother sell goods from one village to another, learning early that survival depended on hard work and connections. Later, he studied, graduated, and moved to South Africa to build something of his own. His first business was a detergent manufacturing company. Hardly glamorous, but it paid the bills and gave him the chance to do what he loved most: give back.

Even then, he donated cleaning supplies to orphanages and charities, believing that small acts of service mattered. That belief never left him.

Why Expired Groceries Sparked a Movement

When James saw those children receiving spoiled food, he knew the system was broken. Handouts weren’t enough. Charity without dignity only reinforced the cycle of poverty. So he asked a bigger question: What if I could bring people together? Not just donors, but educators, leaders, and everyday folks with skills to share?

Destiny Connect Foundation was born from that question. Its mission? To restore hope and dignity by providing food, education, leadership training, and resources that actually empower communities. Not leftovers. Not scraps. But real tools for growth.

Three Pillars That Actually Work

James believes in three things above all: communication, connection, and collaboration. Without them, money and resources get wasted. Nonprofits spin their wheels. Donors give but never see change. Communities receive but never grow stronger.

Destiny Connect Foundation flips that script. It brings givers and receivers to the same table. It emphasizes listening as much as delivering. And it equips future leaders with the foundation to manage resources and create lasting impact.

Five Million Leaders in Five Years

Ambitious? Absolutely. James isn’t shy about it. His goal is to train five million leaders worldwide in the next five years. Change-makers who will stand tall, regardless of background, race, or country. People who will say: Change starts with me.

And before you roll your eyes at the audacity, consider this: he’s already united leaders from four continents and over 200 communities through Destiny Connect’s programs. When James says something out loud, he tends to make it happen.

Fueling the Vision

How does he keep going? Meditation, faith, nature, and family. He knows you can’t pour from an empty cup, so he fills his first. Then he pours into others. That’s why the movement isn’t burning him out. It’s fueling him.

And now, through Destiny Connect’s new podcast, Untold Stories of Hope, James is amplifying the voices of other change makers. Because he knows inspiration spreads. Stories matter. And hearing from people who’ve dared to create change can ignite that same spark in others.

Why You Should Pay Attention

James doesn’t play small. He isn’t interested in putting a band-aid on poverty or checking boxes for charity. He’s building something that lasts. Something that multiplies. Something that could change the way we think about giving and leadership around the world.

And he’s inviting others… entrepreneurs, coaches, educators, even you… to step in. Whether that means donating, teaching, mentoring, or simply spreading the word, there’s a role for everyone in Destiny Connect’s vision.
